Meet Our Marine Instructors

Gunnery Sergeant Kenneth Long
My name is Gunnery Sergeant Long. I have been blessed to have served for just over 20 years and have recently retired from active duty service. Throughout my career, I have been placed in positions and billets that have allowed me to help guide and mentor junior Marines throughout their careers. I look forward to being able to continue that path and help build these young students up and show them what they are capable of doing.

Staff Sergeant Matthew Barker
I am Staff Sergeant Matthew Barker, a medically retired Marine with a passion for leadership and mentorship. My last duty assignment was as a formal schoolhouse instructor, where I discovered a deep fulfillment in teaching and guiding others. Though my time in active service ended, I consider it a blessing to continue serving by mentoring the next generation through JROTC. I’m committed to helping my cadets grow into better human beings, responsible citizens, and capable leaders by instilling the core principles of leadership and military discipline.
Exalt JROTC Wins First Place at The MUSH Competition! 🥇
October 4, 2025. 7 Cadets shoed up to the 5th annual MUSH competition.
The female team took 1st place at their first competition. It was a tie until our very own Avery Ferguson stepped up to meet the challenge of a push up contest to decide the winner. Exalt's representative completed 47 push ups in 60 seconds to beat West Chappels Army JROTC and claim first place.
Congratulations to Mckaylin Theard, Fiorela Finch, Avery Ferguson, Nahomi Tinoco, Valerie Linares, Samary Sanchez, and Salina Bomato.
